As a coach, it's NOT education. This is something that has been said repeatedly and it's just not true. Every single one of my obese clients KNOWS what is healthy and what is NOT. Every single one. There may be some details that they don't understand, like macronutrients, micronutrients, metabolism, etc but they KNOW a pizza is a worse choice than vegetables. They know!
And they often also generally know that obesity is unhealthy. Some have been convinced by the "body positivity" movement that it's actually healthy to be medically obese, but the vast majority know it's not.
And yet they often spend years going down a bad path, because delicious, hyper calorically dense food is addictive. They're an addict. That's all.

Yes, sugar has been shown to be at least as addictive as cocaine. And it's in ~60%+ of foods, added in to keep people on the drip.
Do we treat drug addicts with education?
No, we make the drugs illegal. But we can't do that, because the food companies have the government bought and paid for.
Regulation is needed here, not education. These companies design food (it's literally engineered for addiction) to leech as much money out of a population. It's sick. And it's making us sick. And I'm pissed off about it.
