Never Click On YouTube Fitness Ads
Why I Demonetized My YouTube Channel
I watch a lot of YouTube fitness videos. This is because I am in the fitness industry, and I’m still learning. Sometimes it’s because I’m doing a rating of a peer and that requires me to watch their videos.
As a result, my YouTube home page is mostly fitness related content, and most of the ads I see are related to fitness. And thus, I have come to the following conclusion:
90% of the fitness ads on YouTube are bullshit.
Let’s break these down into the following categories:
- Supplements.
- Transformations.
- Products.
- Coaching.
- Coaching for coaches.
- Mentorship and Events
SUPPLEMENTS
Most supplements are bullshit. And even if they aren’t, no one has a patent on the basics that actually work, like whey or casein or creatine…and the fact that you are watching an ad means that they are spending on ads, meaning it’ll be more expensive for you to buy! Or, they’ll just formulate a worse product.
Likely both.
I’ll put hormone replacement therapy in this category as well. It’s not bullshit, but it’s also over-prescribed and not needed in most cases.
No, no, no and no…because I take care of myself. You know, diet, sleep, exercise, the basics that typically come before jabbing yourself with a needle? The fact that YouTube is targeting a 31 year old with testosterone replacement therapy is a total joke.
TRANSFORMATIONS
Some are legit. But many mess with the lighting, angles, tans, or how relaxed or flexed the person is.
Or, they’ll just straight-up photoshop the results. Or, steal the pictures from online and reverse, face swap or edit them. I rarely if ever…
